Relish

Today we had the first barbecue of the year. We’d been forecasted a heat wave this week, so we’d packed the fridge full of burgers and halloumi to be prepared for it.

It was hot.

I don’t even feel like I’m being a typical English bloke, cracking out the beers and barbecue the first time the temperature gets above 15 degrees, because it was like 28 degrees or something at times today. I was in Portugal earlier this month and it wasn’t even that hot there.

It was definitely barbecue weather.

I drove home with my windows rolled all the way down, music all the way up, then went into the back garden with a Magners and cooked burgers on the barbecue. That’s the Englishman’s dream, right? Right. I relished the opportunity. (get it?)

Having not been in charge of a barbecue since October, I was worried that I’d’ve forgotten how to do it, but it’s like riding a bike, isn’t it? Except with more fire and gas.

Is it now the time of year when I’m going to have a barbecue at every opportunity? I think so.

Am I going to bore everyone who reads this blog by repeatedly talking about barbecues?
