Today we had my sister, would-be-brother-in-law, cousin and would-be-cousin-in-law around for games night. Is cousin-in-law a thing? I don’t even know. Either way, everyone came round for pizza and board games.

Plus beer. There was also beer.

Look at that. That’s my kind of sandwich. We went to Lidl for a change this morning and I bought two crates of Magner’s cider for £5.99. Only when I got home did I realise that that was 20 cans of cider. For £6. Twenty cans of cider for six pound.

I don’t know how anyone, by this point, can argue that this is not the greatest country in the world. Twenty cans for six pounds. The more I say it the less I believe it. To the point where I almost kinda sorta think I must have read the label wrong. That’s thirty pence a can. In Germany you can go to a recycling bottle bank and get 25 cents back for every can you put it. That would make our 20 cans of Magner’s cost 5p each — assuming that you completely ignore the cost of flights and assume that Brexit has caused the pound to equal the euro.

Anyway, what was I talking about?

Yeah, games night…

We split up into couples, naturally, and competed against each other across a variety of different games. Alice and I are usually rubbish at playing games against each other because we get too competitive and angry, but when we team up we’re usually unstoppable at games like ‘Taboo’ and ‘Don’t Panic’ where you almost need to have a secret language to communicate with your partner.

Usually we have that locked down, but today we were sloppy and didn’t win any of the four games. We only notched a couple of wins later on when the checkers and connect four boards came out. Those are the real games anyway.

Until tomorrow, I think, overall, Kelvin and Marie won games night.
