Happened

November 30th 2017

Today was the last day of NaNoWriMo. I ended the month having written 8,000 words out of a target of 50,000 words. We all knew that was going to happen though. I knew that was going to happen. You knew that was going to happen. And guess what? It happened.

During the first week I wrote a total of 8,000 words and it was going quite well, and in the next three and a half weeks I wrote a total of zero words, and it ended badly. No excuses, no self pity, I just didn’t do it. I was supposed to set two hours aside every night to try and work on it, but it’s surprising how quickly you can run out of free evening hours if you’re not paying attention. Whoops, bed time already? Sure, good night! And repeat.

Oh well. It was a nice idea. I have lots of nice ideas, see: everything I’ve ever started but not finished in my entire life.

Although, I guess one way of looking at it is that I now have 8,000 more words than I did at the start of the month. Not that I’ll ever go back to them. But like I said, it was a nice idea.

Until tomorrow, I guess that’s just one more story left untold.
