November 19th 2017
Today I bought a golf club membership. I’ve been thinking about it for a while, but today I committed to it. I’d always planned to play golf today, and one round of golf is £20, or a membership is £25/month and you can play as many times as you like. So it’s a bit of a no brainer really.
Effectively, for my membership to be worthwhile I have to play once a month for the next year. For my membership to have paid for itself I have to play 15 times in the next year, which, considering I’ve played four times in the last month, sounds completely reasonable.
Naturally, as soon as I committed to the membership, I started playing like an absolute knobhead and shot 22 over today, but it seems I’m going to have a lot of chance to practice over the next year. November is probably a bit of a weird time to start a golf membership, because the weather is turning shitty and the evenings are starting sooner, but I’m actually playing more now than I did during the summer.
Sunset golf is actually quite pretty.
Plus playing through the winter means that by the time that summer comes around, I’ll be at the top of my game. I’ll have had enough practice.
I am, however, reliant on my cousin-and-playing-partner to continue playing with the regularity with which he is currently. I don’t think I’d be completely against the idea of going for a round of golf by myself, but it’s much more fun with someone else there.
Until tomorrow, unless I’m losing, that is.
