Today I’m massively regretting running back-to-back speed sessions. Everything hurts. It’s hard to walk up stairs and it’s hard to sit still, and I’ve already fallen asleep three times this evening and it’s not even 10pm yet. The only reason I’m awake now is because I’ve got to write this blog about how tired I am.
The good news is that it was a really good track session. My 400 metre attempts were all paced to within a second of each other, as were my 200 metre attempts. So well paced in fact that you can actually tell that there are three distinct efforts in my pace map.
That being said, the cruise intervals bit in the middle of the 400s (left) and the 200s (right) is pretty poor. It should look more like this:
I’m getting there though. I’m trying to learn that the point of speed sessions on the track is not to sprint every attempt at 100%. You’re supposed to be at 95% consistently. Or something.
I hope I’m getting somewhere at least, because it’s an awful lot of pain to go through for no progress.
Until tomorrow, can I sleep now?
