Today I had a barbecue in the rain at 9 o’clock at night. It was my turn to cook tonight because Alice was going to be out until late evening, so I had to prepare something that I could just cook when she got back. I’d been thinking about cooking kebabs on the barbecue all day, and I get a little bit obsessive when I get an idea in my head, so I wasn’t going to be discouraged from my Monday evening barbecue when it started raining.
Thankfully, the rain wasn’t too heavy, and my barbecue has a cover.
I marinated the chicken in turmeric (which I’ve only just found out has two r’s), ginger, lemon (juice and zest), garlic oil, coriander, and cumin. Then grilled it on the barbecue and served it with feta and spinach couscous.
It was good. Very Moroccan (which apparently only has one r).
The fourth issue of my monthly online magazine was supposed to go live today, but my website has been down all day – so it didn’t. It’s ironic though, because the cover image is a celebration of the return of barbecue season.
Maybe that’s why I was so keen to have a barbecue today – because one of the articles in the magazine is about tips for BBQ season. But in the end, the magazine didn’t go out because my hosting died – which is annoying.
Until tomorrow, it will be out soon, I hope.
