Today, Mum, it will probably be Mother’s Day by the time you read this, unless you’re still awake. It’s technically Mother’s Day as I write this. I’m writing this as something for you to wake up to and also because literally nothing interesting happened in my day.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Thank you for enabling and facilitating me to grow into whatever I become.
You’ve always said that your way of raising a child was “Do as I say, not as I do” which always seemed unfair to teenage me, but now I appreciate the path down which you have led me. Anything I accomplish in life is a result of having parents such as you.
Through your guidance and support (and dads) I graduated University because that was important to you. Do as I say not as I do. You didn’t have the same opportunities as I have and in many ways you’ve sacrificed yourself to allow me to have them.
And I thank you for that.
Until tomorrow, sorry about the envelope.
