January 4th 2016
Today was a bit up and down. I woke up to the news that I’d been rejected for a job I applied for, I wasn’t crushed by it but rejection is never nice. I wasn’t shortlisted because there were candidates that better suited the profile. Apparently.
Then I went for a run for the first time in a year. (Two weeks, really)
I both accidentally and deliberately took Christmas and new year off from my half marathon training. I still have a Christmas Cold, and Christmas is always a busy period, so I had a tactical two week rest period.
I got home with a missed call from a number I didn’t recognise. I thought it would be another prospective job calling to confirm or reject me, but it was my old college. Remember I said I’d applied for a creative writing course? Well they accepted/confirmed me today. That’s not really an achievement, as such because all I had to do was sign up and pay £90 but at least it’s a positive step.
I expect to be rejected many more times before the next acceptance. My 100% record of jobs applied for to jobs accepted for has been broken. I’m now 1 in 2. (Including my current job)
Perhaps the college course will give me an advantage, perhaps I’ll already have a job before then, perhaps I won’t be accepted until the middle of June.
Until tomorrow, it’ll be a roller coaster.
