February 14th 2015
Today, as you’re probably aware, is Valentine’s Day. So this goes out to my Valentine.
Alice, my love.
When you smile, I smile. We smile. When you laugh, I laugh. We laugh.
When you cry, I promise you I’d cry if I could.
I’d walk the earth for you if I could.
I’d climb a mountain for you if I could.
I’d swim a sea, run a marathon, jump up to the clouds for you if I could.
I’d write you a poem every day if I could.
I’m writing you this, and I will write you more, because you are the reason I write. I’m never any good at saying out loud how I feel, but if I write it down it makes more sense.
I can put words in an order on a page and be able to tell you how much I love you, how much I can’t wait to spend my life with you. How happy you make me.
When I write about love, I write about you.
When I think about the future, my future is with you.
When I think about my house, my kids, my dog, it’s always our house, our kids, our dog.
I’m faced with a lot of uncertainties right now, I have no idea what life will throw at me tomorrow, or next week, or next year, but as long as I’m facing it with you, bring it on.
You’ve guided me through every difficult stage of my life, through loss, and failure, and regret. I can’t promise you there won’t be any more difficulties in our life, but if there are, you’ll be by my side, and I’ll be right there with you.
Always, and forever.
Until tomorrow, darling, you are the only exception.
